The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) joined hands with relevant Russian departments to hold a series of science and innovation activities in Harbin on June 15, 2017, on the sideline of the 4th China-Russia Expo and the 28th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair.
On the morning of June 15, MOST and Russian Ministry of Economic Development co-hosted the ¡°China-Russia Roundtable on Innovation Cooperation¡±, inviting government officials and business representatives from the two countries to discuss a wide range of issues like national innovation systems & strategies and innovation-oriented investments. Chen Linhao, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation of MOST, and Shadrin, Director General of Strategic Development and Innovation at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, were present at the roundtable.
Both sides agreed that in the wake of escalating international competition, taking full advantage of technological edges and translating innovative ideas into practice are crucial factors for a country to retain its competitiveness. Innovation cooperation will be a priority direction and a systematic element for China and Russia to deepen economic and trade ties.
Later in the day, MOST and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science co-hosted the ¡°China-Russia Roundtable on Science & Education Cooperation and Technology Transfer¡±. More than 100 business representatives from the two countries discussed a variety of issues from policy incentives that encourage science and innovation, mutually-beneficial innovation platforms, translation of science & technology achievements, to innovation and entrepreneurship. They also introduced accomplishments of bilateral cooperation.
In recent years, science & technology cooperation between China and Russia has maintained robust momentum. The two nations have expanded bilateral cooperation, innovated and enriched the forms of cooperation. Bilateral cooperation has made good progress in the principle of equality and mutual benefit, sharing research outcomes and protecting intellectual property.
